Meet some of the Babel TREE team
Catherine Collier
After 18 years spent working in the environment sector (waste/water/energy management), the time came for me to share my dual technical and linguistic abilities and thereby enable companies to benefit from this double skill set. Being a native English speaker, with an MSc in Environmental Auditing, amongst many other missions, I created and managed an environmental reporting system (4 years), assisted in knowledge management processes (4 years) followed by the management of scientific research programmes (6 years). This experience enabled me to gain an in-depth knowledge of the field’s technical and scientific processes, stakes and challenges. In February 2011, I created Babel T.R.E.E. (Translation and Re-reading for Environmental Enterprises), specialised in technical and scientific translation in the waste, water and energy management fields.
Elena Senante
As a Spanish mother-tongue environment engineer, I worked for 15 years in an environmental group on international research and innovation projects on waste and wastewater management, energy efficiency and environmental impacts. I am also involved in projects focusing on access to services in developing countries.
Passionate about languages and having worked in multicultural teams, I joined Babel TREE in 2016 in order to manage translations into Spanish thanks to my dual technical and linguistic skill set.
Rebecca Smith
Having graduated with a Masters Degree in Translation and Interpreting (University of Bradford, UK) I joined a multinational environment company (waste division) in 1998 as an in-house translator. In 2001 I set up as a freelance translator. Of English mother tongue, I specialise in the environment, business, audit and communications. I have extensive experience in translating/correcting various types of documents: annual reports, scientific studies, web sites, literary articles, press releases…I possess a thorough knowledge of France and French business culture having resided in France for the past 20 years.
Charles EDDY
A sworn legal translator accredited by the Court of Appeal of Douai (France) for the French/English language pair, I’ve spent my life between two continents and two legal cultures. Years of experience have brought me skills in a variety of areas such as business law, civil procedure, public law, and contract law—and in each of them, I strive to constantly keep abreast of the latest developments. What do I attach the most importance to? Achieving the greatest possible accuracy from a legal standpoint: each notion, role, institution, and term is carefully chosen to precisely reflect the appropriate legal and cultural context for the translation. The result? A translation that perfectly matches the tone and meaning of the original in both form and content.
